I haven’t been much in the studio the last week since we took an early Easter holiday. We took a week in Geilo and since snow conditions were far from perfect we really got to rest well. So, I am full of energy and new ideas and eager to get to work again! Since we had a lot of time to do other things then snowboarding in Geilo I went by the Brusletto factory. Brusletto is a Norwegian knife factory with a long history in hunting and sports knives and delivers top quality handcraft. To make a long story short, I couldn’t resist buying two knife blades and will in the coming weeks have a go on a totally new craft for me: knife making! I ordered some books regarding the craft on Amazon to prepare myself a bit and am ordering Mother of pearl and other exotic materials to make the handles. I am thinking of a Navajo style inlay handle but not sure yet.

On the picture the two blades and the bolsters. The bolsters are in pewter or aluminium I guess but I will make copies of them in pure silver. The blades are from the models Falken and Tiur.

As soon as all materials are in and I have an idea of what I am going to make I will blog updates of the projects.

Until the next blog: Happy Easter everybody!!

Yes! Here it is, my new site!

I am very pleased with it but feel free to give me feedback. Of course I prefer the raving ones but I can take a critical comment as well. I did all the work myself just to be independent from web developers and photographers. So, NO, this is not the best designed site and neither does it has the most amazing pictures but I hope that you like surfing around on it. You should be capable of finding what you need and I should be capable of keeping it up to date. If you don’t find what you are looking for then please feel free to contact me.

I will in this blog post on a regular basis on what is going on at my workbench and other things jewellery related that I think are interesting to share with you.

Warm regards,

Werner Hilberink
